Late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Wills Lion Share of His Estate To Bianca Ojukwu

The will of the late Ikemba Nnewi, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, was on Friday presented to the family with his widow, Bianca, getting the lion’s share.

The presentation by the Chief Registrar of the Enugu High Court, Mr Dennis Ekoh, was witnessed by Bianca, Mr Val Nwosu, Ojukwu’s first cousin, and Mr Mike Ejemba.

In the will, the late Ojukwu identified one Tenny Haman as one of his children.

Ojukwu listed the children as Tenny Haman, Chukwuemeka Jnr, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu.

Melaye, a married man with children however denied the relationship.

President Jonathan Set To Impose Anenih On PDP As BoT Chairman

President Goodluck Jonathan may have made up his mind to impose the reclusive former Minister of Works, Chief Tony Anenih, on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT).

Anenih, who was on Monday summoned by the House of Representatives over the sum of N2.3 billion that was purportedly disbursed for an abandoned road project in Nassarawa State in 2006, was at the Presidential Villa on Thursday morning where he had a closed-door meeting with the President. 

The meeting, it was gathered, involved discussions about how to make sure that Anenih, who was known as “Mr. Fix-It” before his political profile began to diminish, becomes the next chairman of the BoT, a position from which former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, resigned in April this year.  In 2007, Obasanjo outmaneuvered Anenih to bag the influential job.

Apart from Anenih, others in the race are a former National Chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Ali; a former Chairman of Board of Trustees of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Chief Harry Akande; and a former President of the Senate, Senator Ken Nnamani.

UBA Named 'African Bank Of The Year

The Banker Magazine, a publication of Financial Times, has named United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA), the ‘Bank of the Year’, Africa at an event held in London.

Nigerian Footballer Dies Mysteriously After Wedding

Former Super Eagles fringe defender Obinna Nnodim is dead. The player is said to have died under mysterious circumstances shortly after his wedding ceremony in Owerri.

The 31 year old footballer player played for Nigerian clubs like Julius Berger and Dolphin FC before moving to Thailand where he underwent knee surgery but was still active in football.


His family is said to have suspended his burial to enable them find out the cause of his death.

Motivational speaker Zig Ziglar has died after a battle with pneumonia, according to his Facebook page.

“Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home,” read a statement on the page. “The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well lived.”

Ziglar's executive assistant Laurie Magers says Ziglar died Wednesday at a hospital in the Dallas suburb of Plano.

Ziglar’s speaking career had lasted more than 50 years, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, before he retired in 2010.

Former Nigerian Basketballer Chinedu Onyeku Shot Dead

A former Nigerian national basketball player was shot dead in a botched burglary in Texas before Thanksgiving, it has been revealed.

According to the Dallas News, Onyeuku and another person allegedly tried to break into a residence on Rio Grande Street in Plano, Texas the night of November 21.

The homeowner told Plano police that he saw ‘multiple people’ approaching the house.

Onyeuku had played for the Nigerian team that qualified for this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

The two apparently entered the residence by breaking a glass patio door.

10 People Killed at Beer Parlour in Jos

FOLLOWING the gruesome killing of eight people at a beer parlour in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday night, the death toll from the incident has increased to 10, while women in the local government area trooped out on Tuesday to protest the killing.

Even as the people in the area have alleged that the  act was perpetuated by some men in uniform in a Toyota Hilux van belonging to the Special Task Force in charge of  security in the state, the STF has, however, denied involvement of his men.

Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Serial Murderer, Robber In Shomolu

 

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended Ibrahim Balogun, a 25-year-old man accused of perpetrating a series of murders in Somolu, Bariga and Fadeyi in the state.

PUNCH Metro had reported on June 25, 2012, that Balogun also known as Small Jpron, was declared wanted following a gang-related violence between Shaggy Boys and Downtown Boys which left at least five people dead in Ilaje, Bariga.

Balogun, who also goes by the pseudonym, Asarailu, which means death in Arabic, is said to be the deputy gang leader of Downtown Boys and a member of a sect, Eiye Confraternity also known as EFCC Boys.

Fatai Rolling Dollar Loses Wife

Popular guitarist-singer, Fatai Olagunju otherwise known as Fatai Rolling dollar recently lost lost one of his wives, Olaitan.

Speaking about the death, the septuagenarian disclosed that the deceased had been admitted in the hospital for months before her eventual death on Friday, November 23, 2012. He added that the sickness started after a stray firework entered his house and hit his wife’s leg, resulting into complications days later.

Boko Haram: NYSC Redeploys 800 Corps Members From Kano Due to Insecurity

The Kano State co-ordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Alhaji Bashir Yakassai, announced that 800 out of the 2,129 posted to the state for this year’s National Youth Service programme were redeployed to other states following the recent attacks from sects.

Speaking at the passing out parade of Batch ‘C’ of the corps members, Yakassai  said that no corps members would be posted to banks or companies they perceive to be lucrative, instead, they would be posted to rural areas where their services are mostly required, especially in agriculture, health care and education sectors, while the married corps members would serve in the state capital.
